Note: this is a recording of a live event. Not all of the video feeds are visible throughout the recording, but all the presentations are available. Recordings of practice questions are included where participants gave consent for this (5 questions are included).
Following a popular session last year, our avengers are assembling once more to impart some top tips for success at the CT1 interview for anaesthetics. Kelly will tell you how she prepared and what she found most useful, before Charles and Anna share some advice about what to expect and how to sell yourself- then put some willing volunteers in the hot seat for practice runs!
The evening is hosted on Google Meet, and attendees from doctors mess rooms or on call areas are perfectly acceptable. We will record the session for those who find themselves unable to join in person on the night- we know how it goes sometimes!
See you there!
What have people told us about the CT1 Interview Night?
"Useful to do simulated interview questions to highlight important feedback and tips. Very helpful session and delivered by enthusiastic panel!"
"The opportunity to practice and see others practice interviews was excellent, particularly with a wide-array of feedback. The information delivered in the presentations was very helpful and there was content covered that hadn't been covered in other courses I have attended."
"Excellent insight into the interview process with key tips on how to maximise scoring via domains. Very engaging talks which really helped to put myself at ease ahead of this stressful time. Thank you!"
The evening will be in a relaxed style, and we hope everyone feels free to join us by video and by audio to contribute fully.
Section One: Tips and Tricks 📈
Our candidates will talk you through what to expect.
First, we will explain the format of the interviews. This will include the interview interface, the structure of the interview, how to dress and present yourself, what questions to anticipate and what the overall structure of the marking scheme will be.
Next, Kelly will give a more personal take on the overall experience. She will talk us through how she prepared, what was easier or harder than expected, and how she'd approach it if asked to do it again.
Section Two: The Hot Seat 😵💫
There is no replacement for experience! We'll take volunteers from the crowd to field questions from our interviewers. Expect five minutes of answering, and a detailed debrief as a group afterwards. Candidates will pitch in with their suggestions and top tips on how to structure your answers and we will try to give you some exposure to the feel of being interviewed.
